Falkirk are on the brink of an early exit from the League Cup after losing on penalties to League 1 Alloa Athletic after a 1-1 draw.
John McGlynn's side, who finished sixth in the Premiership last term, were up against it after losing to Ayr United last midweek.
But they could not earn a win to revitalise their chances of progress, despite taking the lead through Scott Tanser's strike, after 16-year-old Rangers loanee Kyle Glasgow levelled.
Winning the group is now beyond Falkirk, with even a victory in their final game against Stranraer on Saturday unlikely to be enough to claim a best runner-up spot.
