    Harvey Macadam scored seven goals last season for Carlisle

    There have been some weird and wonderful ways for footballers to get injured over the years and now Carlisle United's Harvey Macadam can join the list.

    The midfielder was back in his first training session, recovering from a thigh injury that delayed his start to the new season.

    In chasing to keep a ball in play, the 25-year-old went to backheel it back onto the pitch and ended up suffering a hamstring injury.

    "He's done quite a bit of damage, so he's going to be quite a few weeks," Carlisle head coach Rob Elliot told BBC Radio Cumbria.

    "Harvey's a big, strong lad, he's quite robust so we'll see what the timeline is but it's not going to be in the near future."

    Carlisle have a busy September with six matches, and Macadam is now likely to miss all of them.

  15. Howley returns to Tamworth on loan

    Tamworth have re-signed midfielder Ryan Howley on a three-month loan deal from League Two side Bristol Rovers.

    Howley played seven times in the National League during a previous spell on loan with Tamworth last season.

    Aldershot have signed forward Alfonso Tenconi-Gradillas, who has spent much of the summer training with the National League club.

    The 23-year-old played alongside Shots boss Scott Davies at Slough Town before a spell playing for Stanford University in the United States.

    Harrison Holgate appeared in 24 Fleetwood Town games last season

    Gateshead have signed defender Harrison Holgate and forward Jordy Hiwula in deals until the end of the season.

    Holgate, 26, was a free agent after leaving League Two Fleetwood Town where he had spent his entire career, playing more than a century of games for them.

    Much-travelled Hiwula, 31, was last at fellow National League side Boston United, for whom he scored seven goals in 39 appearances last season.

    The pair are both eligible for Gateshead's fixture at home to Solihull Moors on Saturday (15:00 BST).

    Cole Deeming scored once in four appearances on loan for Truro last season

    Hartlepool United have completed the loan signing of teenage midfielder Cole Deeming from West Bromwich Albion.

    Deeming, 19, will be on loan at Pools until 2 January, 2027 and is available for the home match against Woking on Saturday (15:00 BST).

    He has played once for his parent club and spent last season on loan with Truro City in the National League and then Cheltenham Town in League Two.

    "We're delighted to sign Cole," said Hartlepool head coach Lee Clark.

    "He's someone we've had an eye on for a while, and we've seen how well he did at Cheltenham.

    "He's also gained experience in this league with Truro, and the staff at West Brom speak really highly of him."

  20. Forest Green sign Abrefa on three-month loan

    Forest Green have signed right-back Kelvin Abrefa on loan from Reading until December.

    The 22-year-old has played 83 games for the Royals, including 22 League One appearances last season.

    "It's a position we've needed cover in for a while, so he now gives us good options to choose from in the squad," manager Robbie Savage told the club website.

  21. Osude suffers ACL injury in shower slip

    Forest Green Rovers winger Joshua Osude is set to miss more than two months after falling while getting out of the shower and partially rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.

    The 27-year-old has featured in all five National League matches so far this season for Robbie Savage's side, scoring a goal in the 2-1 win at Worthing.

    "He came in on Tuesday morning because we were in for a debrief, warm-down and recovery and Josh, who has been a shining light for us this season, said 'I've got out the shower, slipped, knee swollen up' and he's got a partial rupture of his ACL," Savage told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

    "Not good news - he's going to be out for eight to 12 weeks."

    National League leaders Boreham Wood have re-signed Chelsea goalkeeper Ted Curd on a season-long loan.

    The 20-year-old made 34 appearances on loan for the Wood last season as they reached the National League promotion final.

    Boreham boss Luke Garrard told the club website: "When this got presented to me, it was a no brainer. The opportunity to bring back Ted and compete for the number one shirt with Luca [Gunter] was something I felt would bode well for all involved.

    "We know what characteristics and personality Ted brings and to have two of the best young talents fighting it out for the number one shirt really excites me."

    Ty Sellars-Fleming has made one Carabao Cup appearance for Hull City this season

    Scunthorpe United have re-signed forward Ty Sellars-Fleming on a season-long loan from Hull City.

    The 21-year-old came through the Iron's academy before joining the Tigers in 2023.

    He then returned for a spell on loan last season, during which he scored six goals in 16 appearances for the club.

    Sellars-Fleming then went on to spend the rest of the season on loan in League Two with Grimsby Town, scoring one goal in 10 appearances.

  25. Southend sign forward Omochere on season-long loan

    Omochere has scored six goals in 39 appearances for Bristol Rovers

    Southend United have signed forward Promise Omochere from League Two side Bristol Rovers on a season-long loan.

    The 25-year-old started his career with Irish club Bohemians, before joining Fleetwood Town in 2022.

    He scored 13 times in 71 appearances for the Cods before joining Rovers in 2024, where he has made 39 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals.

    "We're delighted to welcome Promise into our squad," said Shrimpers boss Kieron Dyer.

    "His physical profile gives us a different option up front and brings another dimension to our play and firepower."
