Oldham Athletic have been successful in their appeal against the red card striker Mike Fondop was shown in Saturday's 3-2 defeat at Newport.

The 32-year-old Cameroonian was sent off for violent conduct in the 38th minute for a challenge on Lee Jenkins.

Fondop would have had to serve a four-match ban which would have seen him miss Saturday's game with Accrington plus the first three games of next season as this was the second time he was shown a straight red card this campaign.

Newport won the game in the 18th minute of injury-time to go into the final game of the League Two season one point above the relegation zone.
