Portsmouth and Birmingham City have been charged by the Football Association for an incident that occurred in their final league match of the season at Fratton Park on 2 May.

The two Championship sides were involved in what the FA described as a "mass confrontation" with 10 minutes to go.

It was alleged that both clubs failed to ensure that their players did not behave in an improper and/or provocative way in the 80th minute of the match.

There initially appeared to be miscommunication between the sides when Adrian Segecic latched onto a loose ball, with the Birmingham City players thinking the ball had been thrown back to them following an injury.

The attacker then shot narrowly over the bar, which sparked a confrontation in front of the Fratton End.

The FA has given both sides with until Tuesday to provide their responses.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
