Sheffield Wednesday have signed teenage Liverpool winger Kieran Morrison on a season-long loan.

The 19-year-old Northern Ireland international - who operates on the right flank - made his first-team debut in the Reds' Carabao Cup last-16 home defeat by Crystal Palace last October and came off the bench in the FA Cup win at Wolves in March.

Manchester-born Morrison was shortlisted for the Premier League Two Player of the Year award last season after contributing 15 goals and seven assists for Liverpool's Under-21s and signed a new four-year contract in May before making his senior debut for Northern Ireland in their friendly win over Guinea in June.

Morrison told the Owls website, external: "It's a massive club with great history and even better fans. Everyone knows that the rebuild is now and I want to be part of it.

"It's a great squad in a competitive league but I feel like we can do really well in this league and I want to help in any way possible.

"I want to show the fans, the gaffer and everyone why the gaffer wanted to sign me and why I belong here."

Owls sporting director Simon Wilson added: "Kieran is a player with huge potential.

"During his time with us, he will benefit from playing in front of huge crowds in a high intensity pressing team that wants to play and run forward, just like he is being asked at Liverpool.

"Equally, we hope to get the value of his quality in his time with us and send him back a better player and a better person.

"It was the shortest player call we have ever had – Kieran's enthusiasm for coming here was extremely strong and he cannot wait to get started."

Morrison is available for Thursday's League One game at home to Bradford City.
