We've seen it before with Gerwyn Price threatening to pull out and Phil Taylor and with other players.

It is not a rarity for the Premier League to become too much. Week after week it is an endurance test.

Sometimes you can feel down and if you feel down, you become mentally weaker.

We know how strong Luke Littler is mentally but when you are feeling like you're public enemy number one, you can feel lke you on't want to turn up, but he did turn up and this is now the by-product of turning up.

It was one of those finals that you can watch day in and day out.

There is more that goes on for the players week in, week out - it really is a rollercoaster. It is tough.

We know there are worse jobs but a darts player this is an endurance job. This is the culmination of all that and that has come out in Luke Littler tonight.

Luke Humphries talking to Sky Sports: "It is emotional, you are playing in these big finals and it shows you what it means to these players. You are on the road for 16 or 17 weeks and some of the players are lucky that they get to take their family with them but I'm not one of them, I don't really get to take my family with me, and it is hard work. This is what you do everything for - you want that trophy because it eels like it is all worth it in the end.

"I was just unlucky today. I played well - i twas a great final. I don't know the stats but it was one of the best finals the Premier League has seen. I was gutted he didn't miss that double top, but that is just darts. I am proud of myself for the way I've come back and got myself to the O2 and given him a good game. That is what I always say, make it tough to beat you. He played a brilliant game so fair play to him.

"I am incredibly proud of myself. I said to myself 'just get yourself there' and it is a free run. I always feel relaxed against him because i know I'm going to have to play well but a 111 average is a winning mentality and that is a winner. I look forward to next year and the Matchplay and trying to get him again and run him close again!"

If you give Luke Littler a sniff, he'll take it.

There is nothing that he cannot do on a darts board.

He's got the belief and he's got it all and he is the 2026 Premier League champion.

Classy from Luke Humphries, who goes over to console Littler during his interview.

Littler cuts his interview short, with the emotion getting to him on stage.

Premier League champion Luke Littler, speaking to Sky Sports: "It's been a rollercoaster. The first four weeks at the bottom, on the fifth night won my first night. I had to pick myself up. I think I went to Brighton and had a 79 average. It was tough, I was down bad. I'm here with the trophy."

On his emotions: "After Brighton I think I came off stage and the incident in Manchester, I was sat at home saying to Faith [his partner] 'I don't want to do it anymore, just the crowd every week'. I said to her 'I'm down bad'"

The emotion of it all gets to Littler who sheds a few tears on stage.

Full credit to Humphries there who was quick to make his way to The Nuke and give him a huge hug and pat on the back.

He didn't win tonight, but Humphries acts like a champion in both victory and defeat.

Classy stuff from Luke Littler who gives a huge applause as Luke Humphries receives his runner-up trophy.

And then he gets his own moment.

Littler lifts the trophy for the second time as his walk-on song Green Light booms around the arena.

He then does a little jig in tune to the song while holding the trophy in the air. Lovely stuff.

With a 54 out required, the first dart slips into the 11, but it doesn't matter.

Littler pins the single three then double top, and he goes berserk.

The Nuke celebrates wildly on stage in front of the VIP section where his loved ones are seated.

He then goes back to Humphries who applauds before hugging his conqueror.

A truly magnificent final from the two Lukes to round off the 2026 Premier League campaign.

Littler swiftly makes his way to the family area and gets plenty of kisses, hugs and high-fives.

What a night.

Luke Littler is now a two-time Premier League champion.

Every dart not at a treble feels like a waste. Luke Humphries gets down to 156, Littler has 142 remaining.

Humphries throws a disappointing 43 and gives Littler a chance, but he leaves 54.

Humphries can't wrap it up. He's down to double 16.
