South Africa are in an in incredibly tough group.

We kind of knew that they wouldn't win today, but they aren't out of it. They've still got the other teams to beat.

Player of the match Georgia Wareham: "With our batting line-up, you know you can play with confidence and freedom. Phoebe was awesome and it was a good all-round performance by the team.

"We are versatile as a bowling line-up as well, we know we are good at keeping it tight and keeping it on the stumps.

"Soph's been awesome [as captain], instilling a lot of freedom in the group, making us believe we can take it on in the tournament."

Georgia Wareham deserved that [player of the match], she bowled fantastically well.

What I love about this Australian team is that they adapt so well. They are very honest in their communication to each other.

They are the team to beat. They've got so many all-rounders and they had a lot of things they could've done better today but still won by 65 runs.

Australia stuttered a bit with the bat - by their standards, at least - but an entertaining 50 from Phoebe Litchfield and cameos from Ellyse Perry, Georgia Wareham and Annabel Sutherland took them beyond 170.

With the ball, it was that formidable spin line-up. Kim Garth struck early but that was the only wicket to fall to pace as Alana King and Sophie Molineux took two each and player of the match Wareham finished with 3-13.

What a game to start. We always knew it would be a bit of a curtain raiser. Unfortunately for South Africa, it's another World Cup where they haven't got off to a good start.

South Africa were poor but Australia are just showing their dominance once again. 173 was always going to be a tough ask for them.

    As dominant as you like.

South Africa are bowled out for 107 as Australia start their T20 World Cup campaign with a statement win.

You can understand what she was thinking. She was holding the strike, trying to face as many deliveries as possible. She tried to go up and over mid-wicket but clothed it.

    Tryon c King b Wareham 9 (SA 106-9)

    There's our answer.

Chloe Tryon attempts to get a move on, but clubs the ball straight to Alana King at short mid-wicket.

Australia are one wicket away from a thoroughly comprehensive win.

It's all eyes on Chloe Tryon now. Is she going to try and stay out for as long as possible or will she try and get some quick runs?

    Target 173

Metronomic as ever from Gardner, just three runs and a wicket from it.

Can Chloe Tryon at least whack a few to boost South Africa's net run-rate?

    Ismail lbw b Gardner 2 (SA 102-8)

Umpire's call, but Ismail has to go.

She went back in the crease and played all around a straight one from Gardner as Australia's spinners continue to dominate.

Ismail has already taken her gloves off, she thinks she's out.

    Another!

Well, Shabnim Ismail is given out lbw to Ash Gardner and reviews rather optimistically.

That ball was hit quite sweetly by Jafta but too high and not quite long enough.

I respect the fact that she's come out swinging though.

    Jafta c Sutherland b King 2 (SA 99-7)

Two in the over! Australia on the charge.

Sinalo Jafta tries to take Alana King on down the ground but Annabel Sutherland is never dropping that at long-on.

They wobbled a bit with the bat but Australia have shown their class in this second innings.

Really soft dismissal. Reyneke looking to tickle the ball into the leg side but a simple catch for Alana King.

South Africa just have not been aggressive enough really with the bat.

    Well, there goes that.

A soft dismissal, a leading edge which plops straight back to Alana King for the simplest caught and bowled chance.

    South Africa are wilting.

Australia's team selection has been spot on for this surface. You just wonder if this is the win that gets them rolling. It's an easier ride for the rest for the group stage until they face India at the end.
