What an unforgettable day for Glamorgan's 18-year-old bowler Tom Norton... a hat-trick on your first-class debut is the stuff of dreams.

Which means there's a good deal more to come... so make sure you join us again from 10:40 BST on Sunday!

    Until then, good night!

  3. Close of play at Edgbastonpublished at 18:57 BST

    Warwickshire 147 & 267-3 v Yorkshire 152 - Warwicks lead by 262

Just a single to Beau Webster (18*) off that final over and he will be back out there again in the morning alongside Sam Hain (43*).

A lot has happened today, we started with Yorkshire on 110-4 with Harry Brook and Jonny Bairstow at the crease.

But Brook's departure prompted a major batting collapse as Yorkshire went from 137-5 to 152 all out.

Rob Yates and Dan Mousley hit half-centuries in reply to help the hosts build up a lead of 262 at close.

  4. Close of play at Old Traffordpublished at 18:56 BST

    Lancs 201 & 45-3 v Middlesex 169

Marcus Harris gets himself off strike with a single and entrusts nightwatchman Mitch Stanley with surviving the last four balls of the session - which he does.

So Lancashire go in with an overall lead of 77 and you feel that, if they can at least double that tomorrow, Middlesex won't relish that final-innings run chase.

  5. Close of play at New Roadpublished at 18:52 BST

    Worcestershire 308 v Durham 207-6

Another strong end to the day for the fielding team as Worcestershire claim two late wickets to halt Durham's progress - David Bedingham (83) and Callum Parkinson (0) both falling in the final five overs.

Prior to that, Ben Stokes' return to first-class cricket saw him score just 14 runs, as Durham set about chasing 308 after lunch.

It was a score that looked unlikely for a while, but a brilliant 57-run 10th wicket partnership from Harry Darley (12) and Jack Home (63*) helped the hosts past 300.

This one could go either way as we prepare for tomorrow's third day.

  6. Postpublished at 18:50 BST

    Warwickshire 147 & 266-3 v Yorkshire 152

The last over coming up at Edgbaston.

    Dom Bess will bowl it.

  7. Postpublished at 18:48 BST

    Lancs 201 & 44-3 v Middlesex 169

Two overs remaining as Marcus Harris plays out a maiden from Ryan Higgins, complete with a bit of playing and missing.

Lancashire are in the driving seat, with a lead of 76 but they won't want to lose another batter this evening...

  8. Close of play at Sophia Gardenspublished at 18:43 BST

    Glamorgan 229 v Somerset 354 & 32-6

A day that will live long in the memory of 18-year-old Tom Norton and everyone at Glamorgan.

The debutant has become the first player in 120 years to claim a hat-trick on their first appearance in County Championship cricket.

James Rew, Tom Lammonby, and Archie Vaughan were all removed in consecutive balls, as Somerset looked to add to their first innings lead of 125, and Will Smeed was dismissed with the final ball of the day to put a cherry on an already-historic cake.

Earlier in the day, the hosts had been restricted to 229 as Migael Pretorius picked up three wickets, with Ben Kellaway the highest-scoring batsman for the Welsh county, contributing 59 runs.

Somerset will resume with a lead of 157 and just four wickets remaining, and all eyes will be on Tom Abell in the morning. If he can replicate his 86 from the first innings, we could be set for a very exciting Sunday in Cardiff.

Two in the over for Ryan Higgins and Lancashire lose their third...

Josh Bohannon gets a bit stuck in his crease as he prods into the hands of second slip.

Marcus Harris is next in for the Red Rose.

    Smeed c Cooke b Norton 0 (Glamorgan 229 v Somerset 354 & 32-6)

The perfect end to Tom Norton's day!

How apt that the 18-year-old claims another scalp before the close, as he makes Will Smeed knick one through Chris Clarke.

A FIFTH no score on the Somerset card and this game has completely turned on its head.

    Jennings c Robson b Higgins 18 (Lancs 201 & 40-2 v Middlesex 169)

Both Lancashire openers gone now and Ryan Higgins strikes again...

Keaton Jennings looks to 'do a Du Plooy', running down the track to Higgins but steers him straight into the hands of second slip.

Lancashire lead by 72 as Josh Bohannon emerges for what could be a tricky few overs.

Simon Harmer and Jamie Porter of Essex

It has been a bit of a battle for the visitors on day two but they will be pleased with the direction of travel in the final hour and a half.

It was a good start to the day with Essex wickets falling regularly to leave the hosts 80-5 and 192-9 (still trailing by 43 runs).

But an 81-run final wicket partnership between Simon Harmer (80*) and Jamie Porter (12) helped extend Essex's halfway lead to 38 runs.

Two wickets early in Hants reply left them fearing a collapse but Nick Gubbins and Jake Lehmann survived the late assault from Essex.

Their lead is precarious at 20 runs with eight wickets to come and everything (win, lose, draw) remains on the table.

But a decent partnership between this pair in the morning could yet put them in a strong position.

  13. wicket

    Leach c Tribe b Hadley 0 (Glamorgan 229 v Somerset 354 & 31-5)

Glamorgan are not done yet for today.

Ryan Hadley causes all kinds of issues for Jack Leach and Asa Tribe is there to collect the attempted block. The night watchman is gone!

A fourth 0 on the scorecard to start the second innings for Somerset.

  14. Close of play at Trent Bridgepublished at 18:28 BST

    Notts 415 v Surrey 211-4

Liam Patterson-White sends down the final over the day and Surrey survive it to leave their overnight deficit at 204.

Dan Lawrence has 52 at stumps, with Adam Thomas on six and Josh Tongue has taken two of the Surrey wickets to fall.

  15. wicket

    Balderson c Duke b Higgins 15 9Lancs 201 & 39-1 v Middlesex 169)

    Ryan Higgins makes the breakthrough!

George Balderson has a swish outside off stump and Harry Duke collects his first catch in Middlesex colours.

Mitch Stanley has come out as nightwatchman for Lancashire.

  16. Division Two updatepublished at 18:27 BST

    #bbccricket

Close of play in Derby, and Northants' response to Derbyshire's declaration on 604-7 ends at 98-4 and there is work to do tomorrow for the visitors.

David Bedingham had been leading the Durham fightback against Worcestershire, but he has just fallen for 83 to leave his side 200-5.

Little to choose between Gloucestershire and Kent in Bristol as stumps is called on day two.

Chris Benjamin will resume on 74 not out tomorrow, with Kent 17 runs behind with two wickets remaining. They will sit on 308-8 overnight.

  17. Close of play at Hovepublished at 18:25 BST

    Sussex 386-8 v Leics 328

    John Simpson celebrates his milestone

Edged by John Simpson and Rishi Patel had no chance at slip despite a valiant fling to his left. The former Sussex captain moved to 89 with a streaky four.

A further three dots brings the curtain down on a day on which Sussex will be well-satisfied with their efforts.

The lead is 58 and there are still two wickets to play and the main contribution came from Daniel Hughes whose 136 bit off a large portion of the chase.

Hughes was ably supported by Jack Leaning (50) but Simpson's unbeaten 89 and 25 run partnership with the new Sussex captain Ollie Robinson is giving the hosts a very good platform.

Dan Lawrence reaches his half-century from 64 balls in the penultimate over of the day, steering Lyndon James for a single on the off side.

It's the third time Lawrence has been past 50 this season and he's gone on to turn both the previous 50s into centuries.

    Thomas c Dickson b Hadley 15 (Glamorgan 229 v Somerset 354 & 29-4)

    This is getting very interesting!

The first wicket of the innings not to be taken by Tom Norton, as Ryan Hadley gets Josh Thomas to hoist one into the air before being safely taken by Sean Dickson at midwicket.

  20. Postpublished at 18:23 BST

    Lancs 201 & 35-0 v Middlesex 169

We don't see this too often, but Middlesex have just given away five penalty runs when the ball struck a loose helmet on the ground behind wicketkeeper Harry Duke.

Ryan Higgins is the unlucky bowler and the Lancashire lead creeps up to 67 overall.
