England's Jofra Archer conceded 46 from three wicketless overs.

  2. Brutal Allen hundred leads KKR to win over Delhipublished at 18:17 BST 8 May

Finn Allen and Cameron Green celebrate winImage source, Reuters

New Zealander Finn Allen hit a brutal 47-ball century to lead Kolkata Knight Riders to a dominant eight-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals and boost his side's unlikely push towards the Indian Premier League play-offs.

By hitting the winning runs with a six, Allen finished exactly 100 not out as KKR completed a chase of 143 with 5.4 overs to spare.

He had 20 from 17 balls and, having been dropped on 42 by Tristan Stubbs, was on 45 from 31.

At that stage KKR were 75-2 after 10 overs but Allen, who scored 33-ball hundred in this year's T20 World Cup semi-final, hit eight of his remaining 16 balls for six.

Fifty-five of KKR's remaining 72 runs came off his bat, while the right-hander also scored 83 runs in an unbroken stand of 116 with Australia Cameron Green, who finished 33 not out.

Allen is only the fourth KKR player to score an IPL century, following West Indian Sunil Narine, India's Venkatesh Iyer and fellow New Zealander Brendon McCullum.

Delhi, meanwhile, were strangely meek with the bat.

They were 74-1 in the eighth over but stumbled to 142-8, taking only 11 runs in five overs from the 12th to 16th despite not losing a wicket.

Delhi drop to eighth in the table on eight points and are struggling to make the play-offs with three games to go.

KKR were winless across their first six matches but have now won four in a row.

They have nine points in seventh - three fewer than Royal Challengers Benglauru, Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans who are third, fourth and fifth respectively.

  3. Bethell fails after injury scare in RCB defeatpublished at 20:06 BST 7 May

Lucknow Super Giants celebrate after Jacob Bethell's dismissalImage source, Reuters

England batter Jacob Bethell was dismissed cheaply after an injury scare as Royal Challengers Bengaluru were beaten by bottom-of-the-table Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League.

Bethell, whose participation in the tournament has been debated in recent weeks, injured a finger attempting a catch as Mitchell Marsh's century helped LSG pile up 209-3 in 19 overs in between rain delays.

He left the field for treatment but was able to open the batting.

The left-hander made 14, 20 and five in his previous innings at this year's IPL and this time was caught for four from five balls slicing a catch to deep third.

Former captain Sir Alastair Cook was among those to suggest the 22-year-old should be playing county cricket in preparation for England's Test series against New Zealand next month.

Australian Marsh's century came from 49 balls, the fastest by a Lucknow player in the IPL. Their next highest scorer was West Indian Nicholas Pooran with 38.

RCB's target was adjusted to 213 in 19 overs because of the rain but the defending champions lost Bethell and Virat Kohli for a two-ball duck in the first two overs.

RCB needed 91 from the last six overs before hitting from Tim David, Krunal Pandya and Romario Shepherd kept them in the contest.

They required a further 20 from the last over but managed only 10. Lucknow won by nine runs via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method to end a six-match losing run.

Lucknow remain bottom of the standings but are now level on points with Mumbai Indians. RCB are third having missed the chance to go top.

  4. Armitage named MI London captain for 2026published at 12:11 BST 7 May

Hollie Armitage Image source, MI London

Hollie Armitage has been named MI London women's captain for the 2026 season of The Hundred.

Durham's Armitage, 28, who has played six times for England, was captain of Northern Superchargers for their title win in the Hundred last season.

Superchargers were coached to their win by Australian Lisa Keightley, who has since joined MI - formerly Oval Invincibles.

"It is no secret that we hoped Hollie would lead the side after signing her in the auction," Keightley said.

"The role of captain in a short form game is crucial, and Hollie brings a brilliant cricket brain and a degree of calmness to make crucial decisions under pressure."

Armitage said: "Being named MI London's women's captain is huge honour as we start an exciting new chapter.

"Lisa is a terrific coach to work alongside, and we are eager to replicate last year's success in MI London colours."

  5. Connolly hits first ton but Sunrisers knock Punjab off top spotpublished at 18:57 BST 6 May

Cooper Connolly hits pull shotImage source, Reuters

Cooper Connolly scored his first T20 century but Sunrisers Hyderabad inflicted a third consecutive defeat on Punjab Kings and replaced them at the top of the Indian Premier League.

Australian Connolly, 22, made 107 not out from 59 balls but Punjab still finished 33 runs short in pursuit of 236 in Hyderabad.

Sunrisers capitalised on dropped catches and piled up 235-4 on another fine batting track, with fearsome opening partnership Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head putting on 54 in 21 balls.

After Abhishek fell for 35 and Head 36, Ishan Kishan hit 55 from 32 balls.

South African Heinrich Klaasen added a further 69 from 43 to take top spot in the leading run-scorers list from India opener Abhishek.

Priyansh Arya was then caught for one off the bowling of Sunrisers and Australia captain Pat Cummins in the first over of the chase.

Prabhsimran Singh followed in the second over for three and captain Shreyas Iyer in the fourth for five.

That left Connolly to play a lone hand, striking seven fours and eight sixes, but the visitors were never truly in the chase.

Punjab, who are coached by Australia legend Ricky Ponting and topped the league phase last year before losing in the final, were unbeaten through their first seven matches in this year's tournament but are now a point behind new leaders Sunrisers.

Two points separate the top five teams in the standings, with Chennai Super Kings two points further back in sixth.

  6. IPL final switched to Ahmedabad from Bengalurupublished at 10:19 BST 6 May

The final of the 2026 Indian Premier League has been switched from Bengaluru to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Organisers said the match had been switched "owing to certain requirements from the local association and authorities that were beyond the scope of BCCI's [Board of Control for Cricket in India] established guidelines and protocols".

The Modi Stadium, one of the largest cricket grounds in the world, held the IPL finals in 2025, 2023 and 2022.

It also held the 2023 50-over World Cup and the T20 World Cup earlier this year.

The final will be played on 31 May.

The first qualifier will be played on 26 May in Dharamshala.

The eliminator and second qualifier will be held in New Chandigarh on 27 and 29 May respectively.

The final is four days before England's first Test of the summer against New Zealand at Lord's, with Jacob Bethell and Jofra Archer two of England's Test players currently at the tournament and in the play-off places with Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals respectively.

  7. Superb Samson leads CSK to key win over Delhi at IPLpublished at 18:44 BST 5 May

    Sanju SamsonImage source, Reuters

Opener Sanju Samson hit a fine 87 not out in a chase of 156 as Chennai Super Kings beat Delhi Capitals by eight wickets to boost their Indian Premier League hopes.

Samson countered a tricky pitch by taking only 16 runs from his first 19 balls as captain Rutaraj Gaikwad and number three Urvil Patel fell for six and 17 respectively.

But the India opener pushed on as his innings developed, hitting seven fours and six sixes as victory was sealed with 15 balls to spare.

He shared a partnership of 114 not out with right-hander Kartik Sharma, who made 41 from 31 balls.

Delhi were punished for their top four all reaching double figures but all failing to pass 20.

Sameer Rizvi top-scored with 40 not out while South African Tristan Stubbs made 38.

Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad was the pick of the CSK bowlers with 2-22. England's Jamie Overton took 1-5 but only bowled one over. He left the field at one stage though returned.

CSK and Delhi remain sixth and seventh respectively in the table but the win means the five-time champions are only two points off four teams above them - Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans - on 12 points.

Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton scored blistering half-centuries as Mumbai Indians kept their Indian Premier League play-off hopes alive with a six-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium.

Rohit top-scored with 84 off 44 balls, including seven sixes, while Rickelton scored 83 off 32 (eight sixes) as the five-time champions chased 229 with eight balls to spare.

Together, they put on 143 runs off just 65 balls for the first wicket before Rickelton was removed by Mohsin Khan.

Manimaran Siddharth later picked up two wickets in quick succession to set home nerves jangling with just 40 runs needed off 27 deliveries but a brisk 23 not out (12) from Naman Dhir and a match-winning six from England's Will Jacks saw Mumbai over the line.

Earlier, Nicholas Pooran smacked 63 runs off just 21 balls, including dispatching Jacks for three sixes in his only powerplay over, as Lucknow Super Giants passed 120 inside eight overs.

However, Corbin Bosch struck twice in five balls to remove Pooran and Mitchell Marsh (44 off 25) as the batting side faltered from 123-1 to 160-5. Although Aiden Markram and Himmat Singh added an unbeaten 68 for the sixth wicket, the Super Giants' total proved insufficient.

The result ends a run of three defeats for ninth-placed Mumbai, who are six points off the top four with four matches to play.

Bottom side Lucknow Super Giants remain without a win since 9 April.
