So the broadcast has just started but it looks like we're getting a bit of chat before Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua take to the stage.

Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn have both already taken their seat.

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have spent years talking about each other without having to sit across from one another for a fight that is actually on the calendar.

Showman Fury is rarely shy on these occasions. Joshua is usually the more measured of the two.

For me, the most interesting bit might come when the talking stops. Do we get a handshake? A long stare? A shove at the face-off? Or something unexpectedly respectful?

Right then, the big boys should be on very soon.

I think it's fair to say both fighters are past their best these days but we're still in for an incredible scrap.

For two fighters whose names have been tied together for well over a decade, Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury have actually crossed paths surprisingly few times.

They famously sparred at Finchley ABC in 2010, when Joshua was still an amateur. Three years later they sat together for a Sky Sports heavyweight roundtable alongside Lennox Lewis and Frank Bruno.

There was then that chance encounter on the streets of Marbella in 2020 - Joshua in a car, Fury stopping for a chat - before they crossed paths again at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April, when Joshua watched Fury beat Arslanbek Makhmudov and the pair exchanged words afterwards.

Tyson Fury loves a news conference and I think one of my favourite moments was when he turned up for the Wladimir Klitschko conference dressed as Batman.

Wonder if he'll have anything in store for Anthony Joshua today.

Around 15 rows are packed with media - from YouTubers and independent boxing channels to major broadcasters - with journalists having travelled in from both the UK and US.

You suspect more would have travelled had we got more notice. Lennox Lewis is here as part of Netflix’s team, while a couple of hundred fans are filling the seats around us.

There’s a mix of excitement and tension in the room. I’ve already heard more than one journalist say how surreal this all feels.

Could this be a world title fight?

Well, reports hit a few days ago that the WBA 'super' heavyweight title could be on the line. BBC Sport did contact the WBA but there was no response.

So, if there was a world title involved, the winner would become a three-time champion.

Queensberry's Frank Warren has been with Tyson Fury for the majority of his career and the 74-year-old is backing his man to knock Anthony Joshua out in December.

That prediction doesn't exactly come as a surprise, does it?

Even as recently as Monday there was another wrinkle, this time over Tyson Fury's enrolment in the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (Vada) testing programme.

Fury's manager Spencer Brown has since said his fighter is enrolled, removing another potential obstacle before tonight's launch.

There are also reports both men were visited by Vada officials and tested this morning.

The uncertainty intensified on Friday evening.

Reports emerged that Fury-Joshua could be in jeopardy and alternative fights for 11 December were being discussed, including Ryan Garcia against the recently retired three-weight undisputed champion Terence Crawford.

Crawford appeared as surprised as anyone, publicly questioning the suggestion he could be fighting Garcia.

Then Fury intervened.

In a video posted on social media, he claimed Joshua and Hearn were "trying to pull out" and blamed the dispute largely on Hearn's objection to White.

There has been no announcement from Joshua saying he intends to withdraw.

Dana White was asked on Saturday night whether Tyson Fury against Anthony Joshua would actually happen.

"I don't know," he told us.

He then said he had "no idea" whether this very news conference would take place.

Three days later, Fury and Joshua are both in London and tonight's launch is happening. Even by boxing's standards, that is quite a turnaround. But you can’t blame fans for not actually believing it will happen until that first bell rings in Cardiff in the early hours of 12 December.

Netflix and Saudi powerbroker Turki Alalshikh's fight announcement was striking for who it included - and who it did not. The event was presented as a collaboration involving Alalshikh's The Ring and White.

There was no mention of Matchroom's Eddie Hearn, who has promoted Joshua throughout his professional career, or Queensberry's Frank Warren, Tyson Fury's long-time promoter.

White's involvement was not entirely unexpected.

The Zuffa Boxing promoter has been saying for weeks that he would be involved in Fury-Joshua.

Hearn has been equally adamant he would not. After Thursday's announcement, Hearn said Joshua's contract specifically prevented White and American sports entertainment company TKO from having a promotional role, claiming Netflix had not been made aware of that provision.
