England boxers on song as six reach semi-finals

England's boxing team enjoyed a successful day five of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow as six fighters won their quarter-final contests.

Lauren Mackie (54kg), Lucy Kings-Wheatley (60kg), Sacha Hickey (65kg) and Mary Kate Smith (75kg) all won their fights to make it into the women's semi-finals.

In the men's 65kg Patris Mughalzai beat Uganda's Nuhu Batte 3-0 and Isaac Okoh was victorious in the 90kg, with the only England boxer to lose their quarter-final on Tuesday being Ellis Trowbridge, who was defeated by Ghana's Amadu Mohammed in the 55kg weight category.

The quarter-finals continue on Wednesday when England's Elise Glynn, Chantelle Reid, Dimeji Shittu and Damar Thomas will also aim to secure a semi-final spot.

The semi-finals will be held on Friday, with the finals on Saturday.
