It is such a tough event and I really hope Sam Bennett does believe in himself and he goes away and he's not too disappointed. Because he's built on a great season and he raced so well in that semi-final to get into the final.

It was unfortunate that he had a bit of tostling and he just lost his balance a bit.

But you can see the potential and talent is there, just hugely frustrating when you have an opportunity that doesn't quite go your way.

A race of two halves. We knew what Jakub Szymanski could do at the beginning, but he just ran out of steam.

In two or three years' time, he will be able to keep the momentum and fluency over the barriers. Once Jason Joseph gets into his rhythm, he is strong. He is always on top of the hurdle, which allows him to come down on it again.

That is his strength. We know how great the Americans and Jamaicans are. If Jason Joseph can match them sooner around hurdle four, then he will be one of the main contenders.

Joseph danced his way to the gold medal.

For Sam Bennett, it's been a great journey, he just couldn't add another race to it. But he can look back on what's already been a great summer for him, finishing seventh place.

Jakub Szymanski was the fastest in the qualifiers.

The thing I love about Szymanski is he can raise his game under pressure and he can deliver. Here today, he is desperate to transition from an indoor specialist to an outdoor specialist.

Sam Bennett's real bonus and the best thing about him is he has this great rhythm, and he is in this groove at the moment.

We had the semi-finals of the men's 110m hurdles earlier in the evening, with Jakub Szymanski of Poland and Samuel Bennett of Great Britain joint-quickest with times of 13.26 seconds.

That was a personal best for Bennett - can he win a third medal of the night for the host nation?

"I just think I never think I did well under pressure, clearly I do. It is the big moment - it all comes right.

"I'll just say - Mujinga Kambundji's done amazing. She's just had a baby. And to come back and be running so well, and defending her title - I think it's so inspiring.

"But when you've got so many talented, motivated, and hard-working athletes like that in your semi, the important thing is just: a good lane draw for the final, and make sure you give every single competitor the respect they deserve.

"I was watching the BBC Newscast - you lot need to cover the facts, man. Saying I was injured and everything. The whole point of rounds is to survive and advance.

"I knew the Dutch guy had the PB to beat me, so I was trying to conserve rounds. I was laughing all the way through me and my coach.

"We got a couple of big races coming up. The Diamond League final, the Ultimate Championships, so it is about conserving yourself and getting ready.

"I knew I was the best in the world. I knew that, on paper, I was second faster than every single one of these guys. It was about me and the clock."
