Anthony attained cult status in Buffy the Vampire Slayer playing Rupert Giles, Buffy's Watcher who poses as Sunnydale High School's librarian.

The smooth-talking Gold Blend man of the 80s is a Vice President of the Royal United Hospital Bath's Forever Friends Appeal, and also manages a centre for horses and companion animals at Tilley Farm, near Bath, with his girlfriend Sarah.

Anthony, who last appeared at the Theatre Royal Bath in Rope in 1994, will play the role of Jeff Golding in the revival of Simon Gray's satirical comedy when it appears in Bath prior to its London run.

Richard E Grant
Richard E Grant plays publisher Simon Hench

Richard E Grant, star of the 1987 cult classic Withnail and I, with more recent appearances in Robert Altman's Gosford Park and Stephen Fry's Bright Young Things, plays publisher Simon Hench.

Witty, urbane, sophisticated and selfish, he is accustomed to keeping himself at a distance from the messy distractions of his family and friends. He has a problem, though.

Settling in for an evening in his lavish home, Simon is besieged by a deluge of unwelcome visitors, and his usually cool demeanour begins to buckle as life finally catches up with him.

This new production of Otherwise Engaged for 2005 will be the first West End revival since the original production in 1975 which starred Alan Bates, Nigel Hawthorne, Julian Glover and Ian Charleson.

Be gentle with me, Prime Minister

Anthony Head in Little Britain
Anthony Head in Little Britain

Since Buffy, Anthony has starred in the BBC drama Manchild, MI5, Spooks and, most recently, Monarch of the Glen.

He also stars in the brilliant Little Britain as Prime Minister Michael.

His adoring aide, Sebastian, is desperately in love with him, and spends most of his time trying to make the PM see the error of his ways regarding his wife.

Sebastian is also insanely jealous of any other man the PM comes into contact with – "He was looking at you... like he loves you!"

It has recently been announced that Anthony Head will also be appearing in the new series of Doctor Who.
