There wasn't a killer moment to be honest... he was just quite likeable. The song he sang never really did it much for anyone.

What swung it?

James was the only auditionee to get the nod from Laura's dad on the first night. His rendition of Take That's 'Babe' was quite average and he did admit to having a roaming eye but with slightly better than average looks he stood out from the rest.
