Ethiopia’s Tigray rebels ‘ready for peace talks’

Tigrayan forces in Ethiopia say they are ready for a ceasefire after a five-month truce broke down.

Tigrayan rebels in northern Ethiopia have said that they are willing to take part in peace negotiations mediated by the African Union after previously criticising the AU’s involvement. So why have they changed their stance?

Uganda has paid the first instalment of war reparations to neighbouring Democratic Republic of the Congo, in line with a ruling from the International Court of Justice.
