South Africa: Former president Jacob Zuma appears at corruption trial via video link
The trial resumed following violence caused by his imprisonment for contempt of court.
South Africa’s former president Jacob Zuma is serving a 15-month prison sentence for failing to appear before a commission investigating corruption allegations during his tenure as president.
In Ethiopia’s Tigray region there are signs of violence spreading to other areas with fighting now reported in neighbouring Afar state. Afar state sits directly east of Tigray - in north-eastern Ethiopia.
And, authorities in Nigeria say 13 policemen have been killed by a suspected armed gang in Northwest Zamfara state. The police personnel were gunned down on Sunday at a facility in the Bugudu area of the state.
