Nigeria: Dozens missing after boat sinks in Kebbi state

The boat which had around 100 passengers on board was travelling from Niger state

Many people are feared dead in north-western state of Niger in Nigeria after a boat carrying around 100 passengers broke in two and sank in a river, local officials say.

There were a number of women and children on board travelling from Niger state to neighbouring Kebbi state.

The French President Emmanuel Macron is on a visit to Rwanda in an attempt to mend diplomatic relations. In a speech at the Kigali Genocide Memorial he said France recognised its “responsibility” in the 1994 Rwandan genocide and asked for forgiveness for his country’s role.
