Nigeria: Gunmen attack prison, allowing inmates to escape

Armed men launched an assault on a prison in Owerri in Nigeria’s Imo State, allowing a number of inmates to escape from the overcrowded facility. It’s the latest in a wave of attacks against police in the region.

Plus, Mozambique’s military says it has regained full control of Palma in Cabo Delgado. Thousands of people fled the area after heavily armed militants descended on the town.
