Niger: More than 50 killed in attacks near Mali border

At least 58 people have been killed in Niger after attacks near the border with Mali when unknown gunmen opened fire on four vehicles transporting people from a market in the Tillabéri region.

In Tanzania, speculation is rife as to the whereabouts of President John Pombe Magufuli amid claims by the opposition that he is ill.

South Africans pay their final respects to the late Zulu king, Goodwill Zwelithini who will be laid to rest in the early hours of Thursday morning.
