Kate Molleson is joined by Clark Tracey to explore the life and work of his father, Stan Tracey. Following Stan into the 1970s as he dips his toe into the waters of free jazz.

This week Kate Molleson explores the life and work of the Godfather of British Jazz: pianist and composer Stan Tracey – in the company of his son, the drummer Clark Tracey.

Today Kate and Clark follow Stan Tracey into the doldrums as he adjusts to life after Ronnie Scott’s and life after addiction. It’s a period in which the record industry began to turn away from jazz and in which Stan Tracey turned – or half-turned – towards free jazz.
