Grieg's Piano Concerto from Alice Sara Ott and the CBSO.
Kazuki Yamada conducts the CBSO in sea-related music by Bax, Debussy & Anna Clyne. The orchestra is also joined by Alice Sara Ott for a performance of Grieg's Piano Concerto.
Experience the romance, strength and beauty of the ocean in this live concert from the City of BIrmingham Symphony Orchestra.
The Atlantic is on fine form in Arnold Bax’s Tintagel, shimmering in the sunlight, or crashing against the Cornish cliffs. Claude Debussy draws on paintings of the sea in his luminous evocation of the sea "La Mer". In Restless Oceans, CBSO Composer in Residence Anna Clyne channels Audre Lord’s inspiration poem: "A Woman Speaks", reflecting the turbulence of the cosmos, and the power and resilience embodied by Black womanhood.
And in between the waves, Grieg’s gloriously romantic Piano Concerto surges and soars in the expert hands of soloist Alice Sara Ott.
Live from Symphony Hall, Birmingham and presented by Linton Stephens.
