Episode 2

Pete Wicks meets a litter of puppies brought into Dogs Trust after being abandoned in a crisp box. Known as the Potato Pups, Pete helps the staff as they fight to keep the puppies alive.

Pete Wicks travels to the Leeds Dogs Trust centre where a litter of very young puppies have been handed in without their mother. Affectionally named the Potato Pups after arriving in a crisp box, the staff including Pete, are all hands-on deck as they navigate the difficult task of hand rearing these abandoned puppies.

Pete jumps in head-first to help care for the puppies, finding out how much it takes to look after such little babies. Assistant Manager Emma, and the team give the puppies round-the-clock care but they’re in a fight to keep the pups alive as the odds are stacked against them.

At the Essex centre, Pete witnesses three new arrivals Teeny, Tiny and Tot who are handed over to the staff. The dogs are flea-ridden and taken straight to the vet for urgent treatment.

Pete’s put to work to help the dogs with their matted coats but as the team work on getting them new homes they spot a behavioural problem with Teeny and Tiny. This could stop them from being rehomed unless the behavioural team can fix it.
