Episode 1

Pete Wicks is a huge dog lover and has spent years working with charities to improve their welfare.

He adopted Eric, one of his two rescue dogs, from Dogs Trust 9 years ago and in this series will spend the summer working with staff at their rehoming centres across the UK doing what he can to help other dogs find their forever homes.

As soon as Pete arrives the dogs start to come in. Firstly, he meets pregnant poodle Mel who was seized at the border after being a victim of puppy farming. Pete’s never seen a dog so scared. Mel gives birth to a huge litter and after such a traumatic start to their lives, the battle is on to keep the puppies alive.

Next, he meets Murphy - an elderly pug with some concerning lumps that need investigating, Murphy has to have an anaesthetic for the biopsy of his lumps. It’s not a smooth surgery when Murphy stops breathing on the operating table. Can the Dogs Trust team save him?

Eye opening and worrying, but ultimately heart-warming, this series highlights the incredible work of the staff at Dogs Trust.
