Keely Hodgkinson begins the defence of her European title as the women’s 800m gets under way with the qualifying rounds. The Netherlands’ Femke Broeders-Bol and the fastest woman in the world this year, Audrey Werro of Switzerland, are also in action and will provide a tough challenge for Great Britain’s Olympic gold medallist.
Qualifying for tonight’s men’s 100m final is also on the track on day 2 of the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham.
