Day 1: Women’s 100m Final, Men’s 5,000m Final

The first medals of the 2026 European Athletics Championships will be decided in Birmingham. Defending champion Dina Asher-Smith faces Amy Hunt in the final of the women’s 100m. Jakob Ingebrigtsen makes his comeback after almost a year out through injury in the men’s 5,000m final. And Great Britain will be amongst the favourites to claim the mixed 4 x 400m relay title, the first of six relay gold medals on offer this week.
