Tina discusses the news and the award-winning 21st Century Folk returns to Radio 2. To mark a summer of events including the FIFA World Cup, the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, the Commonwealth Games, Wimbledon Championships and more, this year’s theme is sport. Five people with powerful stories from the world of sport inspire new folk songs which are performed live. Tina speaks to Andy Tams, whose uncle had a passion for boxing before he was killed in an accident while helping a woman change a tyre at the roadside. Andy took his uncle's precious leather boxing gloves to BBC One's The Repair Shop where they were restored by a master saddler. The story is the basis of a new song by Martin Simpson.
Produced by BBC Audio for BBC Radio 2.
