Tina discusses the news and the award-winning 21st Century Folk returns to Radio 2. To mark a summer of events including the FIFA World Cup, the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, the Commonwealth Games, Wimbledon Championships and more, this year’s theme is sport. Five people with powerful stories from the world of sport inspire new folk songs which are performed live. Tina speaks to Victor Macauley, who was born in Sierra Leone and at the age of six was abducted, drugged and forced to fight against the government there during the country's civil war. Fleeing to London, he experienced homelessness and battled with PTSD. However, various charities transformed his life. One of those was Arsenal in the Community, with whom Victor played weekly football matches and took part in a photography course. He now works for a running charity and assists Arsenal’s official photographers. His incredible story has inspired a new song by Passenger.

Produced by BBC Audio for BBC Radio 2.
