Episode 1
A vulnerable elderly man sparks an island-wide search for answers, a roadside stop uncovers a lethal switchblade, and airport officers track suspicious luggage.
With exclusive access to the police service on the paradise island of Bermuda, we follow life on the front line for the near 400 officers keeping both holidaymakers and locals safe. From patrols and traffic operations to the drug unit, forensics, tactical response teams, the coastguard and community policing, the series goes behind the scenes with the officers at the heart of the action.
The island has its fair share of challenges on both land and sea, with more than 3,000 crimes committed each year. We show how these dedicated officers, including around 30 from the UK, deal with the highs and lows of policing this British Overseas Territory.
In the central of the island, Sergeant Milton Hill responds to reports of an elderly man walking along a busy roadside in clear distress. When he arrives, the man is unable to recall his name, address or basic personal details, and the mystery begins. Concerned for his safety, Milton stays close, guiding traffic around him as he repeatedly steps into the road. On an island where everyone knows everyone, Officer Milton sends a photograph of the man to base, where his identity provides a surprising twist to the tale. It's a race against time for Officer Milton to get him returned home safely.
Elsewhere, PC Eddie Smith and PC Jameela Sabir are on a stop-and-search operation. When Sergeant Mervin Homer examines a bike, he discovers a dangerous switchblade hidden under the seat. With the rider offering no feasible explanation, the prohibited weapon is immediately seized. Back at Hamilton Police Station, custody sergeant Francis Blackman reads the bike rider their rights, while assistant commissioner Martin Weekes examines other recently confiscated blades, including machetes and a samurai sword.
At Bermuda’s international airport, PC Paul 'Geordie' Watson supports customs officer Malcolm Martin and drugs dog Zorro while screening an incoming flight from Canada. After sweeping the aircraft cabin in just five minutes, Zorro indicates interest in two bags in the arrivals hall, leaving customs officers the job of discreetly monitoring the family before searching their bags and bringing them in for questioning. What will the canine team uncover next?
