Hele 10
As the red and blue teams shop near Exeter with experts Ben Cooper and Gary Pe, Christina Trevanion meets a museum curator with a fascinating collection of shipwrecked Lego pieces.
When tiny dragons, octopuses, sharks and other sea creatures began washing up on the Cornish coast, it started a real-life treasure hunt. Nearly 30 years later, Christina Trevanion remembers the Lego spill of February 1997, when almost five million pieces were washed overboard from a container ship, ending up on beaches across the south west. She is joined by Kate Clayton from the Royal Cornwall Museum, who shares some of the rarest items from their collection. Hoping to piece together a win in Devon are two teams of antiques hunters. On the red team are longtime friends Annie and Sandie, guided by their expert Ben Cooper. Their competition in blue are dad and daughter, Ed and Rose, who have Gary Pe by their side. Annie is sweet on a cake plate decorated with hops, but Ben doesn’t see a profit in it, so they move on. Across the antiques centre, Ed thinks a pair of temple lions are 'roarsome', until Gary spots the four-figure price tag. In Chippenham, auctioneer Tim Weeks gives his estimates on the teams’ items before selling them to the highest bidders.
