What is No Mow May and how are schoolchildren taking part?

The idea behind No Mow May is simple - don't mow the lawn during the month of May.

This allows not only the grass but also wildflowers and weeds to grow, which can create a great environment for pollinators - like bees - at the time of year when they are hatching or coming out of hibernation.

Pollinators are insects - including bees and butterflies - along with some birds and mammals, that transfer pollen between flowers so they can produce seeds and fruit.
