Did you manage to catch a glimpse of the Buck Moon on Wednesday night?

In many cultures, including Native American tribes, July's full moon is known as the Buck moon in the Northern Hemisphere, because it marks the time of year when a buck - the name given to a male deer - grows its full antlers.

The moon appears bigger and brighter in the sky, but it isn't actually any closer to Earth than normal.

It is lower on the horizon so gives the illusion that it's bigger than it really is.

We thought we would show you the amazing images photographers from all over the world captured of the incredible phenomenon.

First to Glasgow where the Buck Moon has to compete for attention with this amazing artwork which hangs from the Finnieston Crane over the River Clyde.

The sculpture has been hoisted onto the iconic landmark to celebrate the Commonwealth Games which are taking place in the Scottish city.

The piece was created by artist Emer Tumilty and was inspired by famous Scottish architecht and artist Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

In France's capital city Paris, the moon appears to be a deep red colour. The spotlight at the top of the Eiffel Tower seems be highlighting the celestial object.

Nature at its best! These flamingos got a brilliant view of the Buck Moon from their feeding spot at Deden Lake in Turkey. (Although we are not sure any of them have noticed the spectacular view...)
