The Conservative former chancellor said he's minded to vote for the bill, but he's "going to need some assurances".

"I think we may have to force it to go back to the drawing board," he said, in order to ensure the bill gives Parliament the control which the Leave campaign sought.

He also describes the timetable for the bill as "comic", asking for more time to discuss the complexities.

"I don't want any more assurances or charm... I want amendments," he added.

It was laid by a hen named Sully in Nottinghamshire.

Sully is one of a number of chicks hatched at Alderman Pounder School in Chilwell earlier this year.

Teaching assistant Kay Sullivan took four of the them home - and they've been consistently laying double-yolkers.

However, last night Kay got her camera ready as Sully had laid a particularly big one.

"I thought one of my friends had played a trick with a joke egg, it was so big," she said.

"Last night I thought, 'I'm going to crack it'.

"I Googled it and it said there's a one in 25 million chance of getting a triple yolk."

Kay had the triple yolker on two slices of toast (it wouldn't fit on one) with a bit of brown sauce and it tasted "lovely", she said.

BBC Radio Leicester reporter Bridget Blair spotted this striking bird, external on her roof in Leicester this morning - but what is it?

We contacted the British Trust for Ornithology.

Claire Boothby, from the trust, said: "What a bird! It looks like a Reeves's pheasant to me.

"It is captive bred in the UK but we see occasionally escapees and there are a few odd feral populations."

The East Midlands has been getting twitchers excited of late, with the dusky thrush in Derbyshire in December, the bee-eaters of East Leake over the summer and, most recently, a hoopoe in Loughborough.

Two teenagers, aged 17 and 14, have been arrested after two robberies along the canal towpath between Abbey Park and St Margaret's Pastures in Leicester last night.

The robberies are believed to have taken place between 21:00 and 22:30.

The teenagers, detained on suspicion of robbery, remain in police custody.

Officers searching for Robin Mills from Fenny Drayton have discovered a body.

Although formal identification of the body has not yet been confirmed, it is believed to be Robin Mills, Leicestershire Police said.

The discovery was made earlier this afternoon in an area close to Mancetter in Warwickshire.

The RSPCA said Rupert's eyes will now have to be removed.
