I hope Labour win in Swindon. If they go for Reform they will regret it, like coming out of Europe - that was a big mistake.

I sincerely hope that the success of Reform is a protest vote against the two party system. If people really support Reform the UK is stuffed.

Calum Murphy is 18 years old, making him the youngest candidate standing. His main motivation for getting into politics? He's a young carer for his mum.

"I hope I can make a change for people like my mum," he tells us.

He says he wants to get more young people into politics. "If I can do it, you can do it," he adds.

When he told his mum he was "running", she assumed he meant a marathon, but is incredibly proud he's so engaged with politics.

Calum is standing for the Liberal Democrats in Chisledon and Ridgeway.

This election is expected to be the last for Cheltenham Borough Council, with elected councillors serving only two years instead of the usual four.

It forms part of a government‑led plan to end the current two‑tier system of local government in Gloucestershire.

The current seven district and county councils will be replaced by new unitary authorities by 2028, which will deliver all local services in one place.

Not surprised that Conservatives won Shaw and Westlea in Swindon, they were the only party that were out on the streets, with canvassers and leaflet drops. Well done to them.

  14. Your Voice: 'Haven't swayed'published at 15:16 BST

    Sammy Jenkins
    Live page reporter

We've heard from voters in Swindon on their reaction to the biggest local election the borough has ever seen.

We are also across the election in Cheltenham, where Reform have just taken control of the Hester's Way ward.

    Keep them coming!

    Quote Message

I'm relieved to see most of my fellow Cheltonians haven't been swayed by the reactionary populism of Reform like those in so many other towns and the Lib Dems have done well. It's also good to see the Greens have at least some modest representation here; we need more champions for the environment.

Liberals are destroying Cheltenham, you just need to see the empty shops, rough sleepers and potholes everywhere. Nothing will change except council tax will go up. They are a disgrace.

Kevin Small smiles at the camera - he wears glasses, a beige fleece and Labour rosette.

Labour councillor Kevin Small has been re-elected in Swindon.

He is in Rodbourne, Ferndale and Western and says he's "relieved" and "really pleased for us in our ward - we have a long track record of serving the community".

Kevin has spent decades as a councillor and says people on the doorstep told him the party had done well in Swindon - although he says the national trend has not done them any favours.

"I'm confident we will be able to be the largest party - I don't think we'll take control, but will be the largest party."

If that does happen, he says it's too early to say who else they'd be willing to work with.

In a last minute twist in Cheltenham, Reform have taken control of Hester's Way ward from the Lib Dems by a very narrow margin.

With a 27% turnout in this ward, it was likely just a handful of votes separating the candidates. The result required a recount due to the close finish.

It means Reform secure a seat on Cheltenham Borough Council with one councillor elected.

    The final tally?

    • Liberal Democrats - 17
    • Greens - 2
    • Reform - 1

The Greens have managed to hold onto another seat in Cheltenham as the ballot count for St Paul's ward falls in their favour.

If it's drama you're after, Cheltenham hasn't delivered today. In fact, none of the 19 wards so far have changed at all.

We are now awaiting one more outcome for Hesters Way ward - which is currently undergoing a recount.

The council has recorded an overall voter turnout of 44.41%.
