US President Donald Trump has arrived in Dublin for the start of his two-day visit to the Republic of Ireland - watch live above

A little earlier, Trump met with Irish President Catherine Connolly at her official residence in Phoenix Park
He will then travel to his golf resort in Doonbeg, County Clare, where the Irish Open golf tournament is being held
Irish authorities have been planning for Trump's visit for months in what will be one of the biggest security operations in the history of the state
Protests against the president's visit are expected to be held in Dublin and Doonbeg

The presidential limousine, nicknamed The Beast, is getting some TLC while Donald Trump speaks with Taoiseach Micheál Martin inside Farmleigh House.
President Trump was greeted outside Farmleigh House by Taoiseach (Irish Prime Minister) Micheál Martin and his wife Mary.
They then went inside to begin their bilateral meeting.

Trump's motorcade then made its way to Áras an Uachtaráin, the official residence of the President of Ireland, in Phoenix Park where he was met by the Irish President Catherine Connolly.
He is now on his way to meet Irish premier Micheál Martin, the Taoiseach, at the Farmleigh Estate, which is also within the park's boundary.

As the president was making his way to his vehicle, some members of the press shouted questions and he stopped to answer some of them.
When asked about the situation in Iran, he responded: "Everything will work out fine."

While President Trump meets the Irish president, preparations are well under way at nearby Farmleigh House where he is due to meet Taoiseach Micheál Martin for a bilateral meeting later this morning.
The red carpet was being hoovered at Farmleigh earlier this morning, with a band rehearsing.
There is dozens of media gathered here awaiting the arrival of President Trump.

The US side then did the same, with Connolly shaking hands with a number of people including Trump's son Donald Trump Jr.
The two presidents then returned inside for a private courtesy call between the two.
Both President Trump and President Catherine Connolly have now come back out of Áras an Uachtaráin.
The national anthems of both the United States and the Republic of Ireland were played, with Trump given a guard of honour by members of the Irish military.

Her role is largely ceremonial, but that’s the part of the visit which might have a bit of diplomatic jeopardy, because she is a long-standing critic of US foreign policy and military action in the Middle East.
In her election campaign last year, where she was backed by a coalition of left-wing parties, she said Mr Trump was acting like a bully.

The two have very different political outlooks.
During last year’s presidential election campaign, Connolly described Trump as “volatile, unpredictable” and accused him of “acting like a bully”.
She has also been a long-standing critic of US foreign policy and the use of Shannon Airport by the US military.
Connolly has been less directly critical of Trump since becoming president, but has continued to speak strongly about war and international law.
Today’s courtesy call will be their first meeting since she took office last November.
As President Trump makes his way to Phoenix Park in Dublin for the arrival ceremony, a reminder that a huge security operation is in place for his visit.
The head of Ireland's police force, Garda Commissioner Justin Kelly, has described it as one of the biggest operations the force has ever undertaken.
He spoke to journalists at a press conference on Friday morning.
An extraordinary event has been declared, with 10,000 12-hour Garda shifts planned between Friday and Sunday.
Road closures and traffic restrictions will be in place in Dublin and County Clare, where the president is due to travel later on Saturday, with rolling closures around Dublin Airport this morning.
“We’re doing everything we can to minimise disruption to the public but during an event such as this, it is inevitable so I would ask for people’s patience over the weekend particularly in Dublin and Clare."
Gardaí say they are aware of protest groups planning to gather and will facilitate peaceful protests, but added "there will be no tolerance for public disorder, or attempts to impact critical infrastructure or movements of the President of the United States”.
President Trump's cavalcade has now left Dublin Airport and is making its way to Áras an Uachtaráin in Phoenix Park - the official residence of the Irish president.
An arrival ceremony is scheduled to take place there, before Trump holds a courtesy call with President Catherine Connolly.
He will later make the short journey to Farmleigh House, also in Phoenix Park, for a bilateral meeting with Taoiseach (Irish Prime Minister) Micheál Martin.
