    Suffolk Police have thanked fans for a "memorable" weekend.

    On X, the force, external said: "Thank you to all the wonderful fans who made it such a memorable Bank Holiday weekend in Ipswich. It was wonderful to see so many people of all ages out celebrating together; there was a fantastic community spirit in the town. Special thanks to those who came to say hello."

    Boss Kieran McKenna was already back to dad duties following the club's promotion into the Premier League on Saturday.

    Speaking at the parade, he said: "It's incredible, it's humbling, every person who comes out, we are so grateful. Seeing the smiles on their faces, it just means everything.

    "Yesterday I was back to dad duty and drop-offs and pick-ups. We'll have a few days now this week to hopefully enjoy it."

  6. Key dates for Town's Premier League returnpublished at 14:12 BST

    As one season ends, many will already be thinking ahead to the next.

    Ipswich Town will learn their fixtures for the 2026-27 Premier League season at 10:00 BST on Friday, 19 June.

    The season itself will begin on Saturday, 22 August.

    Ipswich felt amazing today, it was very similar to the promotion two years ago, with how positive everyone was and looked.

    It felt like a great family-friendly atmosphere with many people still enjoying the afternoon in Christchurch Park.

    Talking with fans, many are confident that his time around the club knows what they're doing and can hopefully stay up.

    I suppose we'll find out soon enough in just a few months!

    Megan Pilcher, 28, went to the parade two years ago as well as today.

    "It means a lot to be back up in the Premier League, and I think it's nice because, obviously, not everyone can come into the ground on the day, so it's nice that this is an opportunity for anybody and is accessible to everyone...you don't have to pay anything to come, so that's lovely for everyone to get together."

    Nigel Woollard, 55, and Mark Steggalls, 48, have been enjoying the glow of Premier League promotion.

    Mark said Saturday's promotion-clinching game against QPR was "amazing".

    He said: "The first 15 minutes of the game was absolutely incredible, I've never felt anything like that. The whole day and night. But today's still nice.”

    He added that his 20-year-old son could never understand the struggles Town have had after their recent spell of promotions!

    Rose Jones, 37, from Ipswich, attended today's celebrations with her daughter.

    "I just hope we can stay up," she said. "I hope we can keep McKenna. “If we hadn’t gone up, we’d be losing him, I’m sure."

    "It [today] is amazing for the town. There's such a better feel in the community. Everyone's happy."

    Chairman Mark Ashton said the promotion to the Premier League has not quite sunk in yet.

    He said: "I'm very, very humbled by the turnout by this incredible fanbase today. When we joined in 2021, never did I dream of three promotions in four years - my god, we feel like we've built a monster, and we've still got more to do.

    "I can't believe how passionate this town, this county, this fanbase is for its football club - it's such a special club."

    Kelsie Button, 19, from Ipswich, has given her reaction to Town's promotion and today's celebrations: "The atmosphere just feels different [this time]. I think the first time, a lot of people had said, Town can't do it.

    "Obviously, we'd had back-to-back promotions. A lot of people had said, we're moving too fast and stuff.

    "But I think, obviously, we went back down, but I think we built our way up to quite a solid team. I think next season we'll be alright. I think we might stick in there for a little bit longer than the time."

  16. Mark Ashton: 'It's an honour to watch McKenna'published at 13:24 BST

    Speaking on the success of Kieran McKenna, chairman, Mark Ashton, said: "I've still got the letters and the emails from people when I appointed him saying, 'you're wrong', 'no, no, no', 'we need more experience, this is Ipswich', etc.

    "But we knew the potential of the young man, as he was then, that we got, and I've seen him grow and develop. It's been an honour and a pleasure to watch him. He's tough, he's challenging - you have to do that to build a successful club."

    Thanks to her children, Helen Fanshawe, 53, has been an Ipswich Town supporter for the past six years.

    Attending the parade with her family at Christchurch Park, she said: "We've got to be careful in case [Kieran] McKenna is poached - he's not up for sale.

    "It's fantastic, and it [Ipswich] really needs this. It's wonderful to see... and sometimes it gets a bad rep, but look at this."
