Image source, UK ParliamentCompared to some of the fiery exchanges of Prime Minister's Questions past, Keir Starmer and Kemi Badenoch's interactions today were relatively civil.
The prime minister thanked his opposition counterpart for her "tone" in relation to the death of Henry Nowak, whose murder - and the handling of it by the police - has sparked disorder in Southampton overnight.
It was this incident that dominated the House of Commons proceedings today, and an emphasis on calm-headedness was echoed by others including Liberal Democrat Leader Ed Davey who urged for the teenager's death not to be used as a "political football".
Nigel Farage attracted some ire in the Commons, as the Reform UK leader urged Starmer to "take action" against "two-tier policing".
He was met with some cries of "shame" from MPs, while the prime minister accused him of ignoring the requests of a "grieving family" to "please not exploit" their son's death.
What we also saw in that exchange was an unusual feature of our increasingly multi-party political system, writes chief political correspondent Henry Zeffman.
