Hosepipe ban extended to affect 2.4 million peoplepublished at 15:37 BST 20 July
We are wrapping up our live coverage now - thank you for joining us. Here's a reminder of what has happened today.
- South East Water has announced that a hosepipe ban currently in force in Kent will be extended to parts of Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire and Berkshire.
- The ban formally comes into effect from Saturday, but customers are being urged to follow the ban from today.
- Critics of the ban have hit out at it as "a direct result of years of underinvestment", but South East Water says it will "take time" to break a cycle of summer hosepipe bans.
