'I Want It Right Now'

Current Miss Lincolnshire Emily Okelo joined BBC Radio Lincolnshire's Melvyn Prior to discuss her life, modelling, Miss England, and being part of Celebrity Big Brother winner Chantelle Houghton's fictitious group Kandyfloss.

Local girl Emily Okelo (aged 17) has come a long way in recent years, from winning Modelsearch Lincoln to performing in a professional pantomime at Lincoln's Theatre Royal, to being a finalist in Miss England 2005. Now, she has made it into the fictitious Celebrity Big Brother group Kandyfloss.

At the end of January this year, the beauty queen got her 15 minutes of fame when she appeared live on television with Celebrity Big Brother winner Chantelle Houghton.

The current Miss Lincolnshire won a competition to join the Big Brother reunion party which was screened on Channel Four. Emily and three other competition winners appeared with Chantelle as part of her pretend pop group Kandyfloss.

The group was non-celebrity Chantelle's cover story when she went into the BB house.

All five gave a rousing rendition of the Kandyfloss 'hit' I Want It Right Now from the Big Brother house.

"The whole experience was brilliant," said travel and tourism student Emily, who lives in Lincoln. "When Chantelle first met us in rehearsals on the Saturday she said 'Oh my God, you're my band'. She is really lovely but she didn't know the dance we had to perform."

A guided tour of the Big Brother house

Emily was given a guided tour of the Big Brother House by contestant Michael Barrymore, and met all the celebrities apart from Dennis Rodman and George Galloway.

"Michael Barrymore is really funny, as was Pete Burns - as soon as we started singing, Pete sat and really listened to us. Everyone was really ordinary and really nice to us.

"We met Dermot O'Leary, the presenter of Big Brother's Little Brother, and he's exactly the same in person as he is on the television.

"My mother and I were really well looked after - they put us up in a plush hotel and whisked us around in a big car with tinted windows."

Emily's mother Galina Atkin said she had enjoyed the trip: "Emily was great and we are very proud of her."
