- I saw a job post for my dream role. I think I'm going to apply for it.

a long piece of wood or metal that stands in the ground
A post can mean the vertical section of a fence or sign, which sticks up from the ground.
- I can't park my car there – there's a post in the way!
- That fence post looks like it is rotten – we should replace it.
a prefix meaning 'after'
Add 'post' before another word to indicate that you are refering to the period of time afterwards.
- When the game is finished, I really enjoy watching the players do their post-match interviews.
- I find the post-war history of France very interesting.
