When Nanny was a very young girl, she went to work as a children's nanny in Margate. One of her fondest memories of the time was pay day.

She would take her precious earnings and buy a dozen cakes, go to the beach, sit in the sun and eat every one of them!

Nanny's father, before he met Nanny's mother, worked in America. We think he was a royal engineer and helped build railways.
