Whilst I was overseas fighting in north africa, Italy & Germany my wife worked at The Sunshine Home for Blind Babies in Southport.

I received word that the home had been hit by german bombers and whilst thankfully no babies or staff were killed outright many were horribly injured and disfigured - this was when plastic surgery was in its infancy.

My wife died of her injuries in 1947 after many painful operations.

Now we are told to love the germans - but I find it hard to find anything but hatred for those who wage war on blind babies.
