Places featuresYou are in: Derby > Places > Places features > Derbyshire Pride ![]() Derbyshire PrideBy Andy Whittaker From stately homes to sporting venues, Andy Whittaker has chosen five locations he's come to know and love during his 12 years on the programme. It's only when you start thinking about it that you realise just how much you love a place! I could have listed dozens of places in Derbyshire that I could class as favourites, but East Midlands Today asked me to come up with just five. I decided to make them very personal to me and as such you may not agree with them, or even know them all, but here goes…. ![]() Hassop Hall, HassopA 17th century stately home which is now a hotel. I chose this because other nearby houses like Chatsworth and Haddon get more attention and yet this is a real gem which also deserves a mention. It's also where I got married last year, so it means something quite special to me. Help playing audio/video ![]() Guildhall, DerbyOne of my favourite city centre buildings. It might be traditional in architecture, but I think it's one of the City's most attractive buildings from the outside. Inside it's fascinating too with a tiny theatre and in the film we also explore the tunnels underneath. Help playing audio/video ![]() Stenson Lock, StensonA double lock on the Trent and Mersey Canal. In the summer this place is buzzing. There's nearly always a queue of boats waiting to use the lock on a nice day and for me it's a favourite place as I often take my kids there after school to watch the boats - and eat ice cream! Help playing audio/video ![]() Pride Park Stadium, DerbyThe home of Derby County FC. As a footy fan, this place is an obvious magnet. I'm looking forward to seeing some decent football next season hopefully, but doing this film was a great opportunity to have a look around behind the scenes. Help playing audio/video ![]() The Old Water Mill, Chatsworth EstateMost people focus their attention on the house and gardens, but this mill is one of my favourite bits of Chatsworth. It's a symbol of Derbyshire's Industrial heritage and despite being derelict, it's beautiful! In this film, I turn into Griff Rhys Jones to campaign for its restoration.
