 | | Ronnie White - Commander of the Walney Army Cadet Force |
This was one of the few times when a combined force of the Cumbria Army Cadet Forces (ACF) have met to perform the Beating Retreat. Along with the Walney ACF were cadets from right around the county, including the Sedbergh School Marching Display. Commander of the Walney AFC, Ronnie White, said he was very proud of his cadets and the amount of work they had put in to make the display a success. He said that they had been training for up to four hours a night, seven days a week. Just a short while ago, he said, some of the Walney AFC had never played a musical instrument - but now they were marching and playing in a band. | | Some of the Walney AFC Charging to action |
Two of the highlights of the display were the 'Silent Drill', where a team of cadets performed a series of synchronised rifle drills with no verbal commands.
