Cambridge Band Competition 2009

A showcase for some of the best local talent, the Cambridge Band Competition pits the plectrums against the drumsticks to see who comes out on top.

Four heats, 16 local bands and one stormin' grand final taking place at the Corn Exchange; this is the first step on the road to fame and fortune for one lucky band...

And if the music isn't to your taste, it's worth the price of a ticket to drool over the compere - our very own Fenland stud-muffin from BBC Radio Cambridgeshire's Audio Files fame, Jeremy Sallis. What he doesn't know about local, live music ain't worth worrying about. He loves it almost as much as he loves the humble Maris Piper potato...

The line-up for this year's competition

All heats take place at The Soul Tree in Cambridge, starting at 7pm. Heat tickets are £5 per night and are available from the Junction box office (01223 511511) or wegottickets.com

Tickets for the big final on Friday 15th May are available from the Corn Exchange box office (01223 357851).

The grand final

The winning band from each heat plus the band with the most audience votes from across the heats will go on to the five-band grand final at the Cambridge Corn Exchange on Friday 15th May.
