The Oundle Festival of Music, in it's 89th year, takes place on Wednesday 18th, Thursday 19th and Saturday 21st April 2007 in the inspirational setting of Oundle School. While the festival will showcase the best of the region's local talent competing for the ultimate prize - the public can get involved in a number of classes in music, speech and drama. Classes are for all ages and levels, so there is no excuse not to stretch those vocal cords! But if you don't fancy singing you can always give your support to the performers in the competition - who come from all over the eastern region.
Competitive sessions will run from 9am to 12am, 1.30pm to 4.30pm and 6pm to 9pm. There will be no classes on Friday 20th or on Thursday evening. By purchasing a ticket at 50p per session you will have an all-access pass to roam around the event and visit any room where competitions are being held. It gives you a great chance to have a nose around the historic Oundle School at the least!
The festival comes to a close with a grand concert in the great hall of Oundle School, featuring highlights from the four days of the festival, on the evening of Saturday 1st April 2007. During the concert the best of the festival's young performers will be competing for the title of the first Oundle Young Musician of the Year Award. Tickets for the concert are available from Oundle Music and Oundle Tourist Information Centre on 01832 274333, and during the festival, from the Festival Office. Tickets are £4 for adults and £2 for children, and 50p to get into each competitive session. |
