Guy Hills is a unique designer, radicalising the way tweed is made. Original tweeds were made by taking inspiration from the countryside in the colours of the heather and moors, as tweed was traditionally used for purely practical purposes and it was important to blend in with the surroundings. In a truly modern take on things, Hills, a city dweller who wanted a tweed cycling suit, looked back at the old history books of Edward VIII playing sports in fantastic outfits and set about finding a tailor who could materialise his idea of what menswear should be about.
Hills takes his influences from the concrete jungle through which he cycles every day and essentially uses the urban environment as his colour palette, adopting his designs to function within it.
