Whilst some attitudes remain tied in with images of an idealised countryside, other designers are revitalising their appreciation of the clothes that come from a bygone era by reinventing the way they are made and worn.
Guy Hills has been on a mission to make men’s clothing fun and stylish again. Finding traditional tailoring cloths were quite mundane in their variations of chalk stripes and country tweeds, he set about developing a range inspired by, and made for, the city.
With design partner, weaver Kirsty McDougall, he has dedicated the past four years to reconfiguring tweed for an urban landscape. Kirsty builds the threads into a structure, while Hills scavenges the city streets looking for inspiration for new tweed blends, such as 'wet pavement.'
