Alternating current and the National Grid

Description

This video explains why the National Grid uses a system of alternating current, known as AC, and transformers. Step up transformers are used to lower the current and minimise the amount of energy lost as heat. The amount of power lost can be calculated with the equation P equals I squared times R, where P is Power, I is Current, and R is Resistance of the wire.
