Passengers have been promised less waiting and more seats
Train operator Transpennine Express is promising more, faster trains with extra seating starting Monday as it launches its new weekday timetable.

In a drive to win customer confidence the company says it has made improvements to the speed, capacity and reliability of its services.

Some of Transpennine stock will be lengthened to provide extra seating.

It promises shorter journeys too, including Leeds to Manchester which it says will now take less than one hour.

Shorter, quicker, journeys

Some services between Cleethorpes, Grimsby and Manchester Airport will also be speeded up with journeys cut by up to fifteen minutes, the company says.

Extra planning and new service aids have been brought in by the company to achieve its goals.

Vernon Barker, managing director of Transpennine Express said: "This new timetable represents our first opportunity to make improvements to the speed, frequency and capacity of our services since starting the franchise in February 2004.

"Passengers can look forward to greater reliability, regular departures and longer trains."
