Toilet closure plans flushed away
Plans to close public toilets in a Leicestershire borough, as part of a savings drive, have been scrapped.

Charnwood Borough Council was considering shutting facilities in Shepshed, Barrow, Birstall, Sileby and Quorn in a bid to save 50,000.

The authority said it had responded to residents' concerns about the closures.

The council is now recommending toilets at Loughborough's Granby Street car park are closed as new ones are being developed at nearby Queen's Park.

The authority will vote on the proposal, which is expected to save 270,000 over the next 12 years, at a meeting on Thursday.
